The New Upper Section Project
Expolore the projectInnovation drives the New Peschiera Aqueduct project: from design to construction and on to predictive infrastructure management.
A centre of excellence for the most advanced technologies in the water sector.
To guide the New Peschiera Aqueduct project towards the highest international standards, we established the Innovation Hub. More than just a research center, it is an operational laboratory dedicated to developing, assessing and implementing cutting-edge technological solutions.
Our goal is threefold: to increase the resilience of the infrastructure to climate change, to minimise the environmental impact during construction and to guarantee the continuity and absolute quality of the water resource for future generations in the area.
The Innovation Hub is a national benchmark for the digital evolution of the integrated water system. Our activities focus on identifying and implementing technologies that optimise water management:
Living Technology Radar
A structured and ongoing monitoring framework to identify key innovations and technologies worldwide that can be applied to the Peschiera project, with a focus on priority clusters.
Field Testing of Technologies
To facilitate the testing, integration and adoption of innovative technologies across the Peschiera infrastructure, also aimed at enabling Acea to exercise greater direct oversight of the activities.
Sustainability
To identify solutions by considering the sustainability of the project throughout all stages of its development, from construction to operation, as one of the key drivers
Scalability of Solutions
To assess the acquisition of the most promising technologies, equity investments in the companies that own them, or commercial partnerships, with the aim of replicating the adopted model across other projects.
The New Peschiera Aqueduct is conceived from the outset to meet future needs.
The infrastructure natively integrates digital and physical solutions for smart management of the water resource.
Robotics and drones
For inspecting inaccessible areas and continuously monitoring construction sites without putting people at risk.
Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Advanced algorithms for flow analysis and energy optimisation of water conveyance.
Predictive monitoring
IoT sensors to analyse water quality in real time and prevent faults before they occur.
Digital platforms (BIM & GIS)
Complete data integration to create a “Digital Twin” enabling full control and safety of the infrastructure.
